Year 8 Leavers Social

The shops are bustling with girls looking for the perfect dress to wear to the Year 8 leavers social. The theme is 'Bright Lights'. The social is invitation ONLY, which means it's free but you can't misbehave or you wont be invited. We have had a stepz teacher come in every friday to teach us 7 dances that we must do at the social. Nobody can wait until the big day!

Stepz

In preparation for the year eight ball, the school has paid a dance teacher to come in and teach all of the year eights a few dances. There are about seven dances in total : Teddy Bears Picnic, 5 6 7 8, G.I Joe, Thriller, Grease Lightening, Cha-Cha, and the Merengue. All the kids really enjoy doing stepz. but it's really tiring! Everyone is really excited about the Year eight social in week 10.

Seminars

In week eight and nine, room 23 has to present their seminars to the class. All the year eights had to choose a career of their choice and answer questions about it. My seminar was on being a Professional Photographer. I chose to make a website, If you would like to see it, here's my link :

Talent Quest

In two weeks time, there will be Auditions for the schools annual talent quest. This is held at the end of the year. This is a very exciting time for all students, mostly because they get out of class time. Another reason is because they get the chance to see heaps of amazing talents shown by students. There are heaps of activities during the performances, including student dance off's, sing off's, interviews and spot prizes! The winning performance will get $100 dollars and the trophy will be given to the winning group performance.

High School Exams

The past few weeks have been very busy for the Year 8's with all the high school testing going on. The asTTle reading test, PAT maths, PAT reading vocab, PAT reading comprehension are just a few of the test's we've been doing, and there's still more to come! In week 5 we have Schonelle spelling, basic facts, maths knowledge and essential spelling tests coming up. I believe I have done pretty well, especially with the reading comprehension.

Sense lang typing

Today I completed a sense lang touch typing test. Which means i have to type without being able to see the keyboard. my Rate was 6 words per minute, i managed to type only 21 characters, my number of mistakes was 126 and my success percentage 0%. I plan to do MUCH better than this. I'm going to be practising at home everyday.

Gardening

Our school has gardening groups to make the school more neat, tidy and eco friendly. recently, Mrs Kraackman came to help all of the gardening groups with advice for what plants and flowers to plant in the gardens. She's a really good gardener, so we appreciated her help alot. Mark and I took many photo's to make into a movie, the plants and tree's look really amazing in them all.

Science Fair - Oil Spills

Our school recently had their annual science fair. This year the theme was 'Our precious recources'. I chose to do mine on oil spills. i got lot's of information on the Glf of Mexico oil spill and the Exxon Valdez.
oil is extremely dangerous for the environment and the animals that live in it. it blinds the animals, or poisons them, leaving them useless and unable to look after themselves.
